A new PREA consensus survey predicts an NCREIF retail property index drop of more than 11% and no return to pre-pandemic levels until 2022. Of course retail properties are seeing the most damage, while industrial is the only commercial real estate sector projected for growth with total returns for this year at approximately 3.5%.
How much reversal in growth will the office sector suffer, and will office property owners also have to wait until 2022 to see some recovery? And what about the lodging and housing sectors?
