Water, electricity, wear-and-tear, daily products—as the work from home trend continues and even appears to be expanding, the costs incurred by multifamily property management also keep rising. Utilities were already a point of contention for many managers, and now the costs are creating serious negative impacts. Some think the “internet of things” could be the solution to controlling consumption and lowering costs again. 

As people continue to work from home, will higher costs continue to rise? Or will these new technologies actually control and begin to reduce the costs? Can smart technology really reduce waste and provide labor-saving advantages? And how easy is it to implement such a program?
